Yaffa Katherine Weaver, M.D. was born and raised in Princeton, New Jersey.

 

She attended Duke University School of Engineering in Durham, North Carolina graduating summa cum laude with a dual major in Biomedical and Electrical Engineering. She worked a year for General Electric on semi-custom semiconductor chip design.

Dr. Weaver then moved to Boston and engaged in the Health Sciences and Technology program, which is a collaborative effort of Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

 

Dr. Weaver spent an extra year at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary Laser Research Laboratory and performed experiments with a picosecond pulsed Nd:YAG laser. She graduated cum laude from Harvard Medical School in 1993.

 

Her internship at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge Massachusetts was

followed  by her ophthalmology residency at the prestigious Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, University of Miami. She then completed a one-year glaucoma fellowship at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

 

Dr. Weaver moved to Mobile in 1998 and was an assistant professor of ophthalmology at the University of South Alabama (USA). In 2001, she left academics, and founded Vision Partners with four other eye care professionals.

 

She is board certified by The American Board of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Medical Society of Mobile.

 

Dr. Weaver can address all aspects of eye problems and has special training and interest in helping patients with cataracts and glaucoma. She is a consultant for many ophthalmologists and optometrist in the southeast seeking her unique expertise. She is also an eye consultant for USA Health University Hospital.
